1 John 2: 15-17

This Sunday, Chris Canfield brought us back through the truths we’ve been studying in 1 John—reminding us of what God has already been teaching us about walking in the light, obeying His Word, loving one another, and truly knowing Christ. Then we continued into 1 John 2:15–17:

“Do not love the world or the things in the world…”

John gives us a powerful reminder that what we love matters. The things of this world constantly compete for our attention, affection, and devotion—but they were never meant to satisfy our hearts.

The desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life are all temporary. The world is passing away—but the one who does the will of God remains forever.

It’s a question worth carrying with us this week: What has my heart? Are we building our lives around things that will eventually fade, or are we living for the One who is eternal?

May we be a church that loves Christ more than comfort, obedience more than approval, and eternal things more than temporary ones.
